Appropriate Technologies, intelligently applied.

Networks & Office Setups

We can provide intelligent, practical support for microcomputer systems and networks, whether Windows, Apple, Irix, Solaris or Linux based. We charge less for support of Apple networks, reflecting their reliability and ease of use, but are competitive on all fronts... building the infrastructure ..

We are not tied by contract or by emotion to any hardware or software suppliers, but have a keen understanding of what is available out there and what will fit the bill for you.

So we can advise you intelligently. Not without bias - what use is advice without bias? - but from the standpoint of long experience.

We've helped outfits like:

University of Oxford
University of Newcastle
UK Climate Impacts Programme
London Studio Centre
Oxford Centre for Water Research
British Afghan Agencies Group
Science and Religion in Schools Project
The Prison Phoenix Trust
World in Need
Christian Initiative Trust
Opportunity International UK
National Society for Epilepsy, Oxford Group

Are you exploring the idea of wireless networking? If so, do you have a good handle on the security measures to put in place so that outsiders cannot access your system, or use your link for a free internet trawl? Recent surveys suggest that many organisations - even major corporates - haven't really grasped this nettle so far. We can help you do so.

Also, we offer some deep expertise in Microsoft Groove™, having been working and developing with Groove Virtual Office™ since 2003. Get in touch to find out about what we offer in terms of Groove training.

Web Tech - what goes on in the background

Web technology has moved on from just throwing up some static pages (like most of this site!) to advertise your wares.

You may want users to communicate with each other as well as with you; you may need product details updated at the same time as you update your brochure, rather than a week later. So some smart technology may need to be sitting behind your site.

As we say, it shouldn't impact on your users - nor on you very much - but we may need to build that technology for you.

Commercial vs. Open-Source - is that a decision?

We are developing web solutions using open-source technologies; the concept of open-source means that we do not lock you into any specific way of doing things. But we'll make use of commercial products where appropriate, and where your in-house familiarity or preference makes this an intelligent route to take.

We think that makes sense from our perspective, and from yours. Why re-invent wheels?
